Loan Scandal Investigation Findings Due Soon
Nearly eight weeks after their programs were targeted, athletics officials at dozens of schools are awaiting word — in some cases impatiently — from a New York state investigation into irregularities in the student loan business. The office of New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has been mum since an Aug. 1 announcement that it was hitting 41 programs with subpoenas and records requests, questioning whether athletics personnel got kickbacks or promises of cash or other perks for steering students to a particular lender.
