Beer And Basketball Shouldn't Mix - For NCAA

For more than 100 college presidents and athletic directors, beer and the NCAA men's basketball tournament don't mix. The college leaders — among them the top officials at Harvard, Abilene Christian and Georgia State — wrote a letter to NCAA President Myles Brand on Wednesday calling beer advertising "embarrassingly prominent" during tournament broadcasts. They asked the organization to reconsider its policies on alcohol advertising. The Center for Science in the Public Interest in Washington, D.C., which helped organize the letter, accused the NCAA of violating its own policies that supposedly limit beer advertising to 60 seconds per hour and no more than 120 seconds per telecast. This is a problem, because automatically most peole associate beer and sports instantly. These advertisements shouldnt be allowed in the NCAA televised commercials. I agree with NCAA 09 Rosters that the most money is from the beer companies, but this is only because college students are their best customer, so it would be great if they could find a solution to rule out the beer companies from putting their commericals during the college sports programs in general.

I mean sports fanatics cheering for their fave teams - not fans, my bad.

Indeed, booze and sports fanatics cheering for their fans shouldn't ever mix.

I wonder if NCAA would actually do something about it since beer ads are most probably those that help the org make money the most.
