Comparing Campus Crime Statistics Presents A Challenge
Washington University's approach highlights the problems with using campus crime statistics to compare the safety of schools nearly 10 years after Congress tightened loopholes in a law that requires colleges and universities to report statistics to the Department of Education and the public. Reporting methods vary from school to school.
