In Spring 2008, ebrary collaborated with more than 150 college and university librarians hroughout the world to develop an informal survey to better understand students’ usage, needs, and perceptions with regard to e-books. Although the majority of students said their knowledge of the library's electronic resources was good, the majority indicated they didn't use e-book because they didn't know where to find them. The second major reason for not using e-books was the preference for print books. Find the survey at:

Could this be another case of academic libraries not doing a great job of marketing and promotion (something we're not that hot at)? I was also reading just recently how library blogs aren't reaching students either, but the ones that DO are posted in very prominent places -- the library's homepage, the university's homepage, the course management (i.e. Blackboard) homepage, etc. Now THAT's marketing and promotion! Maybe we need to do THAT with e-books?
