In many parts of the country, community colleges are bursting at the seams as demand for their product soars. A shocking 70 percent of new students at Normandale Community College in Bloomington need to enroll in one or more remedial math courses before proceeding to college-credit work. I'm shocked that the editors of the Star-Tribune are just now discovering the existence of under-prepared community college students. I've been in academics since 1983 -- the need for remediation is nothing new.
